Microsoft Security Protocol Update (TLS). Why your license stopped working and how to fix it

As a part of our continuous efforts to improve the quality and security of our services and to ensure our products meet the latest security standards, eMagicOne servers were upgraded to the newer version of the security protocol (TLS 1.2).

Microsoft Security Protocol Update

On March 31, 2020, Microsoft announced that TLS 1.0 and 1.1 would be disabled in 2020. https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2020/03/31/tls-1-0-tls-1-1-schedule-update-edge-ie11/

Online services and hosting companies had to update their security standards accordingly. Therefore, the TLS version on our server was updated to 1.2 too.

Earlier versions of protocols (1.0 and 1.1) were used in Store Manager until December 2019 when we have implemented TLS 1.2.

Thus, the users, who had Store Manager versions prior to December 2019 would receive the “Unregistered Version” notification due to the outdated version of the security protocol.

What do you do if you got an “Unregistered Version” notification due to the outdated security protocol

If users didn’t update as was recommended in the release notes of Store Manager for PrestaShop, Magento, WooCommerce, OpenCart back in December 2019, they would need to update now. After the update, they will be able to download the latest version of Store Manager with the Update now (Download Update) button available in store Manager application (top-left corner).

I bought a lifetime license, what should I do now?

As stated on the product page, Store Manager License is lifetime. That means that we do not disable, sell or remove your license. You can keep using it with the updated version of Store Manager.

At the same time, as per our license agreement, Store Manager applications (versions) released more than 6 months ago are offered as-is as it is stated in the eMagicOne License Agreement:

“Support, including technical support, is provided only for customers with an active update and support period”… “Versions released 6 months ago and earlier are offered as-is”:

In case Microsoft eventually disables the TLS (worldwide), you won’t be able to register the license on the old version of the Store Manager application (released prior to January 2020) anymore. At the same time, your license will be active, and you will be able to use it with the newer versions of the software.

What do you do if you use one of the sunsetted Store Managers

Users who have still been running one of the following sunsetted applications:

  • Store Manager for X-Cart
  • Store Manager for CubeCart
  • Store Manager for Zencart
  • Store Manager for osCommerce
  • Store Manager for VirtueMart
  • Store Manager for PinnacleCart
  • Store Manager for MijoShop
  • Store Manager for CRE Loaded

can continue using them (but there will appear the advertising banner that can’t be closed).

If you consider switching to any of the following shopping carts: PrestaShop, Magento, WooCommerce, Shopify we’ll be happy to help you with the migration.
